Accessibility readiness for online stores

WCAG accessibility readiness audits for online stores

Fixed price. Findings your developer can act on, mapped to the relevant EN 301 549 requirements, including those related to the European Accessibility Act. Fixes if you want them.

The free snapshot is a one-page automated check of your public pages, sent within one working day.

Why this matters now

The European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025 and includes accessibility requirements for certain e-commerce services. Whether a particular business is within scope depends on its circumstances and applicable national rules. Enforcement is by each member state, and penalties and procedures differ by country. Our audit is an engineering test of your public pages. It is not an assessment of whether your business meets the Act.

The reference standard is also moving. EN 301 549 v4.1.1, which adopts WCAG 2.2, was reported as published on 2 September 2026 and is expected to be cited by the European Commission around November 2026. Until then, v3.2.1 (based on WCAG 2.1 AA) remains the reference. We test to WCAG 2.2 AA and mark each finding as current-reference or 2.2-only, so an audit stays useful before and after the change.

How it works

  1. Free snapshot

Send your store address. We run an automated check on up to five public pages and send a one-page PDF with issue counts, real examples from your pages and what to look at first.

  2. Readiness audit

Five templates (home, collection, product, cart, account or checkout), checked automatically and by hand at desktop and mobile widths. Every finding comes with its WCAG criterion, EN 301 549 clause, evidence, the fix and how to verify it. See what is included and the price.

  3. Fix sprint or monthly check

We apply the priority fixes in a copy of your Shopify theme or WooCommerce child theme and re-test, or re-scan the pages in your quotation every month and email you when new findings appear.

What you get

Findings mapped to standards

WCAG 2.2 AA, mapped to EN 301 549, with each finding marked as current reference or 2.2-only.

Fixes, not just a list of problems

Code you can paste into a Shopify theme, a WooCommerce child theme or your CSS, and how to check it worked.

Honest scope

The report states what was tested and what was not, on the first page.

Fixed price

You know the cost before we start. Fixes are quoted from the audit findings.

What we are, and what we are not

We are an engineering-led readiness audit plus fixes. We do not issue certificates or conformity assessments, and an audit is not legal advice. The base audit does not include testing with real screen readers, voice control, PDFs, video captions or apps. If you need any of those, tell us and we will say plainly what we can arrange.

Read the full disclaimer.

Agencies

If your clients are asking about the European Accessibility Act, we can run the audit and the fixes under your name. You keep the client.

Questions

Do you certify that a store meets the law?

No. We do not certify anything and we do not give legal advice. We report what we found on the pages we tested, against WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549, and how to fix it.

Which platforms do you work on?

Shopify and WooCommerce first. Other platforms are possible; tell us what you use.

Is the free snapshot really free?

Yes. We check public pages once, email you the PDF and follow up at most once. If we do not end up working together, we delete your request after 90 days.

How long does an audit take?

We aim for three working days from payment. The base audit needs no logins to your store.

Who sees my details?
